Fotbal, known as soccer in many countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing team’s goal. It is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).
The key elements of fotbal include dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending, with players using their feet to control the ball, although they can also use other parts of their body, except for the arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception). The game consists of two halves, typically 45 minutes each, with a halftime interval. Referees enforce the rules and make decisions regarding fouls, offside, and other infractions.
Fotbal is one of the most popular sports in the world, played at both amateur and professional levels, and includes various competitions such as domestic leagues, international tournaments, and club championships. The sport promotes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, making it a significant cultural phenomenon across numerous nations.
