Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of 11 players each. The objective is to score goals by advancing a ball into the opposing team’s net primarily using feet, although players may use any part of their body except their hands and arms (goalkeepers are an exception). The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch, with a goal at each end.

Football is known for its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and athletic skill. It is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which establish how the game is played, including regulations on offside, fouls, and scoring.

There are various forms of football, with the most popular being association football (commonly referred to as soccer in some countries, especially the United States and Canada) and American football, which has different rules and gameplay. Football is recognized as one of the world’s most popular and widely viewed sports, with major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup attracting hundreds of millions of viewers globally.
